KSEB cleared proposal for tripartite MoU with GIZ and WRI India on energy storage

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) cleared a proposal to sign a tripartite memorandum of understanding with Germany’s GIZ and WRI India to carry out studies and demonstration projects on energy storage solutions within KSEB’s electricity distribution network under the StoREin project. The MoU is to be inked after securing Kerala government approval, and the KSEB order says the work involves technical assistance, pre-feasibility studies, and support for tendering and monitoring, with no financial obligation to KSEB.
Why it matters
If implemented, the studies and demonstrations can help Kerala prepare and procure grid-scale storage options to integrate renewables and manage demand peaks.
