Mazagon Dock signed MoU to be anchor shipyard for proposed Dighi greenfield cluster

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra Ltd (NSHIPML) to participate as the anchor shipyard in the proposed greenfield shipbuilding industrial cluster at Dighi, Maharashtra. MDL said it plans to invest about ₹15,000 crore in a proposed shipyard with an annual shipbuilding capacity of at least 1.2 million gross tonnes (GT).
Why it matters
If executed, the proposed Dighi facility would add large-scale commercial shipbuilding capacity and support a broader maritime manufacturing supply chain around the cluster.
