Indian Railways approved ₹497 crore doubling of the 10.86-km Chouk–Karjat section

Indian Railways approved a ₹497 crore project to double the 10.86-km Chouk–Karjat railway section in Maharashtra on Central Railway’s Panvel–Chouk–Karjat route, which is currently a single-line stretch carrying passenger and freight traffic. The project is intended to add capacity and improve train movement; the report says it is expected to enable five additional passenger trains per direction per day and support an additional 18.35 MTPA of freight once completed.
