MSEDCL says 6.5 GW of agricultural feeder solarisation has been commissioned in Maharashtra

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) said around 6.5 GW of agricultural load has been solarised and commissioned in Maharashtra within about a year and a half, shifting many farm consumers to solar-backed daytime supply. The utility said this has enabled daytime electricity for about 76% of farmers and reduced peak demand by about 4.5 GW.
Why it matters
Commissioned feeder-level solar generation can cut agricultural peak load and reduce dependence on higher-cost peak power procurement while easing stress on transmission networks.
