Central Railway completes railway span work of reconstructed Sion Road overbridge

Central Railway said it has completed all works pertaining to the railway span of the reconstructed Sion Road overbridge (ROB) near Sion station in Mumbai, including the launched steel girders and deck slabs. The full bridge is expected to be completed by September 30, 2026 after approach works by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), after which it can open to road traffic.
Why it matters
Finishing the railway span is a prerequisite for reopening the east–west road connection at Sion and for accommodating the proposed additional fifth and sixth railway lines on the CSMT–Kurla corridor.
