NPCI unveiled Unified Ticketing Platform and announced RuPay credit card on UPI abroad

At Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai, NPCI unveiled the Unified Ticketing Platform (UTP), developed under NBBL and hosted by NTSL, which is being piloted with Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Archaeological Survey of India for transit and monument entry ticketing using QR codes. NPCI also announced that RuPay credit card-linked UPI payments would be rolled out to international merchant acceptance points, with initial corridors mentioned as France, Mauritius, the UAE and the US.
Why it matters
If the pilots and international rollout proceed, UTP can standardise digital ticketing across transit and cultural sites, and RuPay-on-UPI can extend UPI credit payments to overseas merchants for travellers and cross-border ecommerce.
