RSA Global to open phase 1 of an empty container yard at JNPT

RSA Global will open the first phase of an empty container yard at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (near Mumbai) after receiving a 30-year licence from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. The project is planned over 62 acres, with phase 1 operationalising 20 acres (including 10 acres for internal roads and an inspection area), according to ET Infra.
Why it matters
Dedicated empty container yards can shift empty-container storage and handling out of terminal space, freeing capacity for loaded containers and reducing congestion around port operations.
