Meta to report child safety matters to India’s cybercrime portal (I4C)

Meta said it will now report child safety matters directly to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal managed by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), according to a Meta spokesperson quoted by The Economic Times. Government sources told the publication Meta has agreed to report child sexual abuse cases to appropriate law enforcement agencies in India.
Why it matters
Direct reporting to the national cybercrime portal can speed up referral of suspected child sexual abuse material cases to Indian law enforcement for investigation and action.
