Procurement approved for 7.11 lakh tonnes of pulses and oilseeds at MSP in UP, Telangana and Karnataka

Location not reported30 Sept 2026

The Indian government approved procurement under the Price Support Scheme of 5.21 lakh tonnes of pulses and 1.90 lakh tonnes of oilseeds at minimum support prices in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka for the 2026-27 kharif season. The procurement will be carried out via nodal agencies NAFED and NCCF, with a total MSP value of ₹5,547.99 crore, according to a ministry statement.

Why it matters

MSP procurement is intended to stabilise farmer incomes when market prices fall below MSP and can increase assured offtake for pulses and oilseeds in the three states during the kharif arrivals.
