NTPC and Talcher Fertilisers submitted proposals under coal gasification scheme

India’s Ministry of Coal said NTPC Ltd and Talcher Fertilisers Ltd (TFL) have submitted applications via the online portal under the ₹37,500 crore coal and lignite gasification scheme, while the first application window remains open until September 7, 2026.
Why it matters
Applications are the first step toward selecting and funding projects intended to expand domestic coal/lignite gasification into products such as syngas, methanol, ammonia and urea.
