The Centre notified the Semicon 2.0 scheme with an outlay of ₹1.27 lakh crore to support the semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem in India. The notified scheme covers segments including chip design by Indian firms, capital equipment units, semiconductor fabs, and chip assembly/packaging/testing.
Why it matters
Notifying the scheme formalises fiscal policy support across the semiconductor value chain, enabling projects in design, fabrication and packaging to access government support under a defined programme.
