Centre extends LTC conversion scheme for travel to select regions till Sept 2028

India’s Personnel Ministry extended by two years a Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scheme allowing eligible central government employees to convert one home-town LTC to travel (including by air, as specified) to the Northeast Region, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The extension is effective from September 25, 2026 to September 25, 2028, and the order also reiterates measures to check and act against misuse.
Why it matters
The extension keeps in place a time-bound travel entitlement and reimbursement mechanism that can sustain official travel demand to these regions for another two years.
