Power ministry issued guidelines on RoW compensation for interstate transmission lines

India’s power ministry issued guidelines for compensation to landowners for right of way (RoW) for interstate transmission lines. The guidelines set mechanisms to determine market value of land in states that have not specified how land value should be determined, and apply to transmission lines supported by towers of 66 kV and above; where a state has no policy, the central guidelines will apply.
Why it matters
Clearer compensation mechanisms are intended to reduce RoW disputes that can delay transmission-line construction and completion timelines.
