Indian Railways approved ₹122 crore to double Barbil–Bolanikhadan rail section

Indian Railways approved ₹122 crore for doubling the 6-km Barbil–Bolanikhadan section under South Eastern Railway. The Ministry of Railways said the project is expected to enable an additional 8.9 million tonnes per annum of freight capacity after commissioning and reduce delays to iron ore freight trains.
Why it matters
Doubling this single-line mineral corridor segment is intended to ease rail capacity constraints for iron ore movement from mines to steel plants and ports as regional volumes grow.
