CRS conducted safety inspection and speed trial on Purunakatak–Charichhak rail section

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Eastern Circle) inspected the newly built 13.3 km Purunakatak–Charichhak section of the Khurda Road–Balangir new line project in Boudh district, Odisha. The inspection covered track, signalling/telecom, bridges, a 1,975 m tunnel (T-7), viaducts and other safety installations, and included a speed trial between Charichhak and Purunakatak ahead of commissioning.
Why it matters
CRS inspection and speed trial are prerequisites for commissioning, moving this section closer to opening for train operations and improving rail access to interior areas of Odisha once commissioned.
