Dhamra Port switched its full electricity use to renewable power (effective Aug 2026)

Dhamra, Odisha1 Aug 2026

Dhamra Port in Odisha, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), shifted its entire electricity consumption to renewable electricity, effective August 2026, according to the company. APSEZ said the port now meets over 90 lakh units of monthly electricity demand from renewable sources (over 108 GWh annualised) via captive renewable power, third-party access arrangements and green-power procurement under Odisha’s regulatory framework.

Why it matters

Running a major deep-draft multi-cargo port on 100% renewable electricity reduces emissions tied to purchased power for energy-intensive port operations.
