Tata Steel awarded BRPL the mine developer-operator role for Joda West manganese mine

Tata Steel has appointed Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (BRPL) as the mine developer and operator (MDO) for its Joda West Manganese Mines in Odisha, according to Tata Steel and Lloyds Metals spokesperson confirmations to Mint. BRPL is linked to Tata Steel and Lloyds Metals through Thriveni Pellets Pvt. Ltd, in which Tata Steel holds 50.01% and Lloyds Metals holds the remainder.
Why it matters
Assigning an MDO for Joda West changes who runs the mine’s operations, which can affect the reliability and efficiency of manganese ore supply used in Tata Steel’s steelmaking.
