Paradip Port inaugurated ₹427.80 crore works incl. 18.5 m deep-draft; mechanisation concessions signed

Paradip Port Authority in Paradip, Odisha inaugurated seven infrastructure projects worth ₹427.80 crore, including capital dredging enabling 18.5-metre deep-draft capability and the Atharbanki Second New Bridge. The port authority also signed concession agreements worth ₹1,580.36 crore for three berth mechanisation projects (5 MTPA South Quay, 8 MTPA Multipurpose Berth, and 10 MTPA captive CQ-III) under BOT/captive arrangements, as part of a plan to reach 100% berth mechanisation by 2030.
Why it matters
Deeper draft and added mechanisation can allow larger vessels and faster cargo handling, reducing turnaround time and logistics costs at a major east-coast port.
