PNGRB approved development of ~1,800 km of LPG pipelines across six States

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) said it has authorised development of about 1,800 km of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipeline infrastructure across Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka and Goa, with an estimated capital investment of about ₹7,000 crore. The sanctioned pipelines include Cherlapally (Telangana)–Nagpur (Maharashtra) (556 km), Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh)–Sitarganj (Uttarakhand) (~611 km), and Shikrapur (Maharashtra)–Goa & Hubli (Karnataka) (633 km), to be developed by GAIL (India) Limited.
Why it matters
If built, these pipelines are expected to expand India’s LPG pipeline network and reduce LPG movement by road tank trucks, lowering logistics and emissions while improving safety.
