PNGRB approved IGX platform for booking unused LNG regasification capacity

16 Oct 2026

India's Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) approved a proposal from Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) to introduce a platform where LNG terminal operators and capacity holders can voluntarily list unutilised LNG regasification capacity and prospective buyers can identify and book slots. IGX will facilitate capacity bookings, while commercial negotiations and payment settlements remain bilateral between buyers and sellers.

Why it matters

A transparent booking mechanism can improve utilisation of existing LNG terminal infrastructure and broaden access to regasification services without new terminal construction.
