PPPAC gave in-principle approval for leasing 11 AAI airports in five bundles
India’s Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) gave in-principle approval for leasing out 11 Airports Authority of India (AAI) airports as five bundled concessions: Amritsar–Kangra; Varanasi–Gaya–Kushinagar; Bhubaneswar–Hubballi; Raipur–Aurangabad; and Tiruchirappalli–Tirupati. Documents cited in the report estimate private concessionaires would invest about ₹8,622 crore across these airport bundles; the Ministry of Civil Aviation is to conduct market sounding before submitting the proposal back to PPPAC for final recommendation.
In-principle approval advances the PPP leasing process for these 11 airports, potentially enabling private capital-backed upgrades and added non-aeronautical/city-side development revenue streams if the concessions proceed to final approval and bidding.
