Railway Board approved ₹1,419.05 crore detailed estimate for Qadian–Beas rail line

The Centre/Railway Board has approved the detailed cost estimate of ₹1,419.05 crore for the new 39.68-km Qadian–Beas broad-gauge railway line in Punjab, connecting Qadian (Gurdaspur district) with Beas (Amritsar district). The report says construction is expected to begin soon, with land acquisition in the two districts identified as the immediate next step.
Why it matters
Approval of the detailed estimate is a key step toward starting work on a new rail link that would bring towns and villages along the Qadian–Beas corridor onto the rail network and improve regional connectivity in Punjab’s Majha area.
