Rajasthan completed the digital identification of farmers after issuing 90.19 lakh farmer identity cards, meeting the target set by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. The State Agriculture Commissioner said the verified digital identities are intended to link identity cards with land records and the crop registry.
Why it matters
A verified farmer ID system can enable more targeted delivery of services such as crop insurance, fertiliser distribution, MSP procurement and access to agricultural credit.
