Chennai Metro Phase II TBM 'Adyar' achieved breakthrough at RK Salai station

Chennai Metro Rail Limited reported that the downline Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) “Adyar” completed its tunnelling drive and achieved breakthrough at RK Salai Station on 2026-10-01 as part of Chennai Metro Phase II Corridor 3 underground works. The release said this was the 10th TBM breakthrough under the TU02 contract; the downline tunnel section is 915 metres long and the drive began on 2025-12-29 and was completed in 277 days.
