Railway Board approved four Chennai suburban rail capacity expansion projects

Southern Railway said four rail expansion projects in the Chennai suburban network, together worth more than ₹2,100 crore, have received Railway Board approvals and are at various stages of tendering and execution. The projects cited include Arakkonam–Chengalpet doubling (67.79 km), Tambaram–Chengalpet fourth line, Attipattu–Gummidipoondi third and fourth lines (tenders invited), and Perambur–Ambattur fifth and sixth lines (tenders invited).
