Tamil Nadu launched the Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme and application portal

The Tamil Nadu government launched the Tamil Nadu Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme to support domestic consumers installing rooftop solar plants. TNPDCL also launched an online portal (tnebltd.gov.in/usrp/) for applications and scheme information; applicants from August 5 are eligible for combined Central and State subsidies of ₹35,000 (1 kW), ₹70,000 (2 kW) and ₹1,00,000 (3 kW).
Why it matters
The scheme and portal lower the cost and friction for households to adopt rooftop solar, enabling faster distributed solar capacity addition in the State.
