ZEISS opened an Innovation Hub at IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai

ZEISS launched its first innovation hub outside Germany at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai. The centre is starting with a team of about four to five people and will focus on early-stage research in areas including frugal engineering, harsh-environment optics, robotics, and fluid dynamics, in collaboration with IIT Madras departments, the incubation cell, and startups.
Why it matters
It adds a new industry-linked research capability at IIT Madras Research Park intended to generate early-stage technologies that could later be developed into products or solutions in India and potentially for global markets.
