Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu20 Oct 2026
A.P. Moller–Maersk is scheduled to undertake its first planned drydocking in India, with the Singapore-flagged container vessel Maersk Chattogram expected to enter Larsen & Toubro’s Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai on 2026-10-20 (subject to operational and weather conditions). The work is described as the first operational milestone under Maersk and L&T’s maritime collaboration framework, and will include the vessel’s scheduled special survey and maintenance/overhaul of hull, machinery, equipment and propulsion systems, using L&T’s shiplift system.
Why it matters
Executing planned drydocking for a major global shipping line in an Indian shipyard demonstrates and helps build local ship-repair capability and supply chains for maritime maintenance work.
