Southern Railway added coaches permanently on three Chennai express train pairs

Southern Railway's Salem division announced permanent coach augmentation for three pairs of express services: 16159/16160 Chennai Egmore–Mangalore Central Express (one sleeper coach; from Sept 29 ex-Chennai and Oct 1 ex-Mangalore), 12243/12244 Chennai Central–Coimbatore Shatabdi Express (one AC chair car from Oct 1), and 22207/22208 Chennai Central–Thiruvananthapuram AC Express (one AC 3-tier coach; from Oct 2 ex-Chennai and Oct 4 ex-Thiruvananthapuram).
Why it matters
Permanent augmentation increases passenger carrying capacity on these intercity routes, easing crowding and meeting higher demand without adding new train services.
