The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) decided to build a ₹1.8-crore foot overbridge (FOB) on the Chennai–Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) at Poigai village in Vellore district, Tamil Nadu. The plan includes staircases on both sides, shelters with lighting and CCTV, fencing, ramps for persons with disabilities, and lifts.

A dedicated pedestrian crossing at an accident-prone location can reduce road-crossing risk for residents and users of nearby public facilities and markets along this highway stretch.
