KRMB committee decided Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar water will be used only for drinking needs

A three-member committee of the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) met in Hyderabad and decided that water available in the joint storage facilities at Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar reservoirs will be shared only to meet drinking water needs, not for irrigation, citing poor inflows linked to El Nino conditions. The committee deferred a decision on the inter-State sharing ratio and scheduled another meeting for September 4 to decide the drinking-water sharing ratio up to the next June–July.
