Study describes three new cascade frog species from Tripura, Nagaland and West Bengal

Researchers reported three previously unknown cascade frog species from Northeast India—Amolops ammachi (Jampui Hills, Tripura), Amolops sendenyu (Nagaland; named after Sendenyu village), and Amolops bella (West Bengal)—based on DNA analysis and morphological comparisons. The peer-reviewed study also documents five other Amolops species as being recorded in India for the first time, following over 15 years of field research across northeastern States.
