Kavach automatic train protection commissioned on Gwalior–Jhansi rail section

North Central Railway’s Jhansi division has commissioned the Kavach automatic train protection (ATP) system on the Gwalior–Jhansi rail section, excluding Gwalior and Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi stations. The project included installation of 1,596 RFID tags along the section to provide train identification and location-related information.
Why it matters
Commissioning Kavach adds an operational safety layer that can automatically intervene to help prevent collisions and other hazardous situations caused by potential human error on this corridor.
