West Bengal launched the SFIC East portal for grassroots innovation proposals

The West Bengal government launched an online portal (sficeast.wb.gov.in) under the ‘Seva First Innovation Challenge–Eastern Zone’ to invite solution-oriented proposals on issues including healthcare access, agricultural losses, water shortage, waste management and environmental risks. The launch took place at the IIT-Kharagpur Research Park in New Town, near Kolkata, according to an official statement.
Why it matters
The portal creates a formal channel for students, startups and independent innovators to submit problem-solving proposals that could be developed and supported through the state programme.
